Cylinda Katherine Johnson “Claudine”

Cylinda Katherine (Smith) Johnson was born in Winnsboro, Louisiana 1944 to Ruby Smith and Caleb Earl Lee. Cylinda was the second of eight children to Ruby. Spending her youngest years in Louisiana. After Ruby Smith and Benjamin Polk join union the family migrated to Pasadena California in 1957.
Cylinda worked as a cook in a nursing home to support her children. When she had her first five children ( Jimmy Smith, Sylvia Peace, Tina Peace, Donna Towns and King David Towns ) she focused on raising them.
After a health scare in 1978. Cylinda decided to receive salvation at the church where her Step-Father Benjamin Polk who minister alongside Prophet Rogers G. DeCuir of “Holy Deliverance Pentecostal Church” in Pasadena, CA. While at Holy Deliverance she served in the kitchen as a cook, she also sang in the choir.
Always gave smiles, hugs and encouraging words to everyone she met. Everyone enjoyed her pies, popcorn balls, and hot honey baked wings, among other delicious meals she created. When She found Christ, she did her best to get her children to join her as she served the Lord.
About three years after she received Christ. She have a miscarriage and received a report from her Doctor that she was unable to have any more children; but God worked a miracle and blessing her to bare three more children with her husband Hurley Du’ane Johnson ( De ’Jesus Z. Johnson, De’Neshia V. Johnson and Skughofey Quincy Earl.
Cylinda then joined “The New life Holiness Church Victory Temple” under the leadership of Bishop Thomas and Pastor Elzena Medlock in 1980s. Where her oldest daughter Sylvia Peace and step father Benjamin Polk was serving the Lord. Cylinda served on the mother Board at New life Holiness Church. While she was there she encouraged De’Jesus, De’Neshia and Quincy to be involved in church activities.
When her health started to fail her in 2015, she slowed down in attending church. Then her two daughters De’ Neshia Johnson and Sylvia Peace started caring for their Mom.
In 2017 her son Skughofey Quincy decided to step in to help care for his Mom. She then started attending “Hill City Church Los Angles” under the leader of Pastor Deitrick Haddon in 2018.
Through-out the years she enjoyed visited her other children’s homes King David Towns, Tina Peace and Donna Towns, enjoying her life and spending time with as many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren
2021 she moved to Arizona where her daughter De’Neshia and Sylvia began to care for her again.
On, September 25th 2021 she decided to make her final transition to her Heavenly Home.

Sons Jimmy L Smith of Pasadena, CA, King David Towns of Los Angeles, CA, De’Jesus Z. Johnson of Sacramento, CA, Skughofey Quincy Earl of Chino, CA.
Sisters Ernestine English of Pasadena, CA, Ruby Hampton of Victorville, CA and Brother Alvin Polk of Monrovia, CA, forty four grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and a host nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother Viola Crockett Smith, grandfather Quincy Smith Sr., mother Ruby Smith Polk, father Caleb Earl Lee, step-father Benjamin Polk Sr., Bothers Benjamin Polk Jr and Clyde L. Polk; Sisters Barbara J. Polk Carter and Shiela Rae Polk
Cylinda Katherine Johnson, your legacy will live on forever. You will never be forgotten. You carried out you commission, good and faithful servant, now enter into the joy of our Lord.
